Speaker John Boehner's restriction on the number of attendees signals that there's little chance for discussion that would produce the breakthrough to end either the confrontation over the debt ceiling or the one on the government shutdown. However, some news accounts are focusing on the chance that Republicans may accept a short-term increase in the debt ceiling to produce further discussions with Obama. Others, like this one, note that the discussion has shifted so far from the health care issue that started it all that the fight has lost its meaning and perhaps momentum.
