Hello everybody, thanks for stopping by our lunch-hour chat. The newest Wolves are coming into town just now to stay for the week and the questions are piling up. So let's go....
Here's the schedule: The three new guys are hitting a rather formal reception for corporate sponsors and select ticket holders tonight, they'll do all their photo session and media presser (at the State Fair for the presser) tomorrow, visit a children's hospital Wednesday and Flip will work 'em out for three days starting Wednesday. Interesting to note Zach LaVine has been brought in for all of this, just so he's included as part of the new young core
I'm not sure I'd go that far, but it certainly is the best singular piece anybody has gotten in recent years when stars (Dwight, CP3, Deron, Melo) have forced their way out of their markets. Ultimately, so much will depend on how good Wiggins is. If it's trading one "superstar" for another, then yet it might be the best because that almost never, if ever, happens
Best guess: RIcky and KMartin in the backcourt, Wiggins, Pek and Thad up front, although Corey certainly could begin the season as starter if they decide they don't want to put too much pressure on Wiggins
Yes, I think he is very happy. He certainly looked relaxed and content yesterday strolling around the State Fair.
They'll try to trade him -- they tried to get Sixers to take him with no luck -- but if that doesn't happen, they'll buy him out, I'd think
Yes, I think you'll see him change it a lot. He's invested in these guys now, we'll see if he takes a step back from calling all those plays and let these guys go
Rebounding and his outlet passing, which really is freakish. That could be the biggest factor of all in teaming up with LeBron and Kyrie. Those guys are going to get down the floor...
No, and no. When Flip realized he had to trade Love, I don't think he really wanted to coach. Now I'm sure he's happy he is.
I don't think there's any scheduled session for that, but they'll be out there moving between the radio and TV booths most of the afternoon
Oh, Shabazz will see minutes because Flip's invested in him. I suppose you could see something w/ Budinger or Brewer, but I bet Flip goes into camp, sees what he has and then sorts it out. I think he'll try to go small a good bit and play guys like Shabazz and Wiggins at PF some
No, I don't think so. They tried to force Golden State to take him because if they were getting a 2 guard in Klay back, they didn't want another 2 guard making that much money for 3 more years on the roster. But since they didn't get a 2 guard back in the trade, I think Flip thinks they'll need his scoring. Plus, he's awfully hard to trade with that contract for at least another year or two
They'll probably experiment some with it, but barring injuries, he'll get most of his time as the backup 2, I'd think
I'd put Pekovic right up there too. Flip said the other day he'll give the rookies as much responsibility as they show they can accept. I would expect Zach gets brought along more slowly than Wiggins
They've got a year from last Saturday to do so. A lot of times those things expire and I doubt they do anything now but there might be a $6M player someone is looking to dump for salary reasons as the season opener nears or at trade deadline
They'll help some with their athleticism and leaping ability, but neither's really a go-to rim protector. But Gorgui's going to have to do most of the intimidating
I think the Western Conference will take care of that issue for him
Well, I now Raptors fans are already fitting him for a jersey, but that's five years down the road. Relax, don't worry about it at this point. If Flip does his jobs right, it won't be an issue
On a scale, I'd say about a 2
No, I think maybe by late July they knew it was in the works
No, I think it has more to do with getting enough time for both him and Pek
