Good afternoon everyone. Happy day-before-opening-night. Let's get to it!
Yeah I think you're right on -- this year will almost certainly be full of struggles but next season, with the freshman they're bringing in and this year's frosh having a year under their belt, plus two very good transfers being eligible, Minnesota could have a very solid team.
The best part of that for Minnesota is it will still be a very young nucleous, so plenty of room to build.
That can always happen -- just take a look at the Big Ten non-conference schedules last year -- but yeah, any time you have size, experience and rebounding issues, you're vulnerable.
I think he knows that this is a critical year for him even though he's not publicly acknowledging that. Certainly, athletic directors have their own theories about what works and what doesn
't as it is. Coaches under AD switches are already nervous. And although the future does look to be on the rise for Pitino at Minnesota with the prospects of a year from now, the reality is he's coming off a very disappointing, ugly season and could be headed straight for another. If a potential new athletic director can't see into the future, that could spell problems for him
I always have issues with the apostrophe being too close to the enter key when I'm trying to type fast.
Definitely not. Expectations are here, even if they're unreasonable given the current roster. These are all players he recruited and he's built his system. I think most fans think it's time to start seeing what he can do.
Hm, this is a good question. Maybe how much they eat? I think Bakary Konate is literally holding some food item in his hand for about 10 hours a day (he also says he wakes up in the middle of the night and eats).
Well we're not entirely sure yet. I could see Nate Mason playing that role, which he did a little bit last season. Defenses will approach him differently this year, though.
Bigfoot only needs 3 seconds to take what he wants/
I think that her pedigree at Butler probably hurts her, not helps her because football is such a major part of this job now. Some, I think will question whether she has the experience for this. That said, she's made all the right moves thus far and has handled her new role quite well, I think. I still expect a national search.
Summer isn't really the scotch season for me, so no, but Yellow Point Irish Whiskey is high on my list at the moment. I'm really more into Irish whiskeys and American whiskeys lately.
Maybe Dupree McBrayer. The freshman guard is extremely versatile and will be able to fill in at three different positions for Minnesota. He's looked very steady in a pair of non-conference games, has showed a smooth shot and strong ball-handling and has even given us a few surprises -- namely, a pair of blocks.
Oh, I'm sure he is. I'll be sure to send everyone beach photos.
Yes, Konate is expected to play. He played to contact for the first time yesterday in practice, but only about 15 minutes. Pitino said he should go for about an hour today and he's considering him "full go" for tomorrow. I think he's definitely still developing, but he has a high ceiling, and anyway it's the only choice the Gophers have right now.
I choose Oklahoma State of Sioux Falls. Does that count?
No, there will be none of that.
Yessir. I agree. The Temple game, while not scary on paper is definitely losable for this Minnesota team. If they win, they could face much stiffer competition. Some serious early tests for this young bunch.
Hm ... 8-4 non-conference, 5-13 in the Big Ten.
