Our Live Blog captures the Minnesota Lynx' day, from breakfast with Gov. Mark Dayton through the rally that drew about 3,000 people to Target Center.
Crowds lined the parade route to congratulate the Lynx as they passed by in cars. Lindsey Whalen sported a throwback green North Stars.
She said she's "old school."
Whalen hurled candy to the crowds nonstop.
In the final car, Augustus and Moore carried three trophies, hoisting them all at once as they approached Target Center to the delight of the crowds as the Sun shone off the silver.
The crowds improbably collapsed around the final car with police and Lynx struggling to keep crowds from getting too close or getting run over by the slow-moving vehicle.q
Players came out riding sitting up from the backseat of the convertibles.
All along the route fans yelled, "we love you" and "congratulations."
Often they wee able to interact directly with the players.
The parade include a drum and dance crew, the all-male Lynx practice squad piled into one truck and waving like crazy, dancing and smiling.
The players all had put championship t-shirts over the clothes they'd worn earlier to breakfast with the governor and other fans. Dayton said he had invited, "just about everyone I've seen" to the event at the Summit Avenue home.
Inside Target Center Pop dance music blasted as the emcee tried to get everyone dancing, cheering and waving for the Lynx. The center appeared to be about a fourth floor including some 500 folding chairs on the floor.
