Two moments immediately came to mind even before I was honored with the No. 1 pick. Blessed with this opportunity I went back and forth in my head. I don't remember watching either of these moments live. But I do remember a trip to the Metrodome sometime in the early or mid 1990s. A relative worked for the company that hired the Dome's part-time workers and was able to score some sweet seats one section over from the protective netting. At one point during the game, a foul ball tipped off home plate and rolled to the on-deck circle. Mr. Clutch himself, Kirby Puckett, flipped the ball our direction and I caught it. Mr. Puckett is the No. 1 pick, not for making a kid's day but for everything he did in Game 6 of the 1991 World Series. An obvious pick.

My selection may be partial to personal experience because I was at Game 7 of the Western Conference Semifinals when Kevin Garnett led the Wolves past the Kings with 32 points, 21 rebounds, five blocks, four steals and two assists in a 83-80 win to advance to the Western Conference Finals.

One of the greatest sporting events in my life was also one of the most clutch performances in Twin Cities history, without question changing the narrative of Garnett's career.

I was sitting in the upper deck directly across from Chris Weber when he missed the game-tying three-pointer at the buzzer. Bedlam at Target Center, Garnett on the media table. Phenomenal.

We didn't think the Minneapolis Miracle would last very long.
